Who we are
This site is buildwithmatriarch.com, run by Janelle Baird, trading as Matriarch. If you have any questions about this policy or want to exercise any of the rights below, email janelle@buildwithmatriarch.com.
What we collect, and why
When you get in touch through the enquiry form
If you fill out the “Let’s talk about your business” form, we collect your name, email address, and whatever you tell us about your business and what you want to work on. This is used only to respond to you and, if we start working together, to deliver advisory services. It’s stored in our WordPress database and is not shared with anyone outside Matriarch.
When you subscribe to the email list
If you sign up via the footer form, we collect your first name, last name, and email address. This is stored with our email provider, Brevo, and used to send you updates, content, and occasional offers. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email we send.
When you just browse the site
If you accept cookies via the banner, we use a small amount of tracking to understand how people find and use the site (see Cookies below). If you decline, none of this runs, and only the cookies needed for the site to function are used.
Cookies
We ask for your consent via a banner before any non-essential cookie is set. Here’s exactly what’s in use:
Essential (always on, no consent needed)
These keep the site and its forms working — for example, WordPress’s own security cookies and our caching plugin (LiteSpeed Cache). None of these track you personally or persist longer than necessary for the site to function.
Analytics and advertising (only after you click Accept)
- Google Analytics — tracks page views and general site usage so we can understand what content is helpful. IP addresses are anonymised.
- Meta Pixel — lets us measure how effective our Facebook and Instagram ads are, and understand what people do on the site after clicking one of our ads.
If you click Decline, neither of these loads. Your choice is remembered for 12 months via a cookie called matriarch_cookie_consent, after which you’ll be asked again.
Email and push notifications
If you’re subscribed to our list, our email provider (Brevo) may set cookies related to email engagement and optional browser push notifications. These only apply if you’ve actively subscribed or opted in.
Who we share your data with
- Brevo (email service provider) — stores your name and email if you subscribe, so we can send updates.
- Google — receives anonymised analytics data if you’ve accepted cookies.
- Meta (Facebook/Instagram) — receives website activity data if you’ve accepted cookies, used to measure and improve our ad performance.
- WPForms / our hosting provider — enquiry form submissions are stored on our own server; we don’t send this data to any other third party.
We don’t sell your data to anyone, ever.
How long we keep your data
- Enquiry form submissions are kept as long as needed to respond to you and for our own business records, and deleted on request.
- Email subscriber data is kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.
- Analytics and pixel data follows Google’s and Meta’s own retention schedules, which we don’t control directly.
Your rights
You can ask us at any time to:
- tell you what personal data we hold about you
- correct anything that’s inaccurate
- delete your data entirely
Just email janelle@buildwithmatriarch.com and we’ll action this within a reasonable time.
Embedded content
Blog posts on this site may include embedded content (for example, an embedded video or social media post). Embedded content from other websites behaves exactly as if you’d visited that website directly — the third party may collect data about you, set its own cookies, and track your interaction with that content, especially if you’re logged into that service.
