My story
I was a greengrocer for over a decade. We sold online, and I needed specific features to make the website work for our business. Every web designer I spoke to tried to talk me out of them — because they didn't understand the business side of what I was asking for.
So I learned to code. My brother-in-law — who builds the structures behind big video games and learning portals for universities — taught me on weekends and evenings. He's a good teacher.
Then life took a turn. I got really ill and nearly died. Now I'm reskilling in an area I'm deeply passionate about, and while I study I'm using my web design skills to contribute to my household and keep my skills in use.
I'm not looking to build an empire. I take on one client a month. I'm a student with about 15 years of business experience and 10 years of building websites and tech solutions. I see so much potential in businesses — friends with brilliant cleaning services, retail businesses, things people really need and use — and they spend all their time on the phone handling bookings, or invoicing manually.
I just wanna fix it.
What makes me different
I'm pedantic. The details matter. A website is like a car — it's at its best the day you drive it off the lot. It's not going to get faster, more accessible, or more user-friendly over time. So making sure the details are right the first time is important.
I'm not here to rebrand you. That's for another guru. I love working with established businesses who already know who they are. What I do isn't about aesthetics (though it will look nice) — it's about function, sales, the bottom line.
I have the tech expertise. In the days of AI, lots of people are installing code they don't understand. That's terrifying to me — the risk of exposing your customers' financial information because some cowboy let AI code your checkout and didn't know how to proofread the code. Not on my watch.
I write. It's a hobby of mine. So when I put in essential pieces of keyword-researched content to help people find you and choose you, the writing doesn't suck. It's good enough that you can come back and edit it to make it more "you" if you want. Or you can leave it.
I get business processes. Not as a generic push to "systemise" and document everything — but if I see an opportunity when I evaluate your site, I'll build it in as an option on your quote.
Websites are a multi-skill, holistic project. So few people out there approach them as one. They either do tech, copywriting, or visual design — you end up with a staff of ten to get one site up. No thanks.
How I work
- One project at a time. Your site gets my full attention, not a slot in a production line.
- Assessment first. You tell me what's not working. I look at your site — front end, and back end if you give me a login. You get a costed list of everything I'd fix. You choose what's in scope. Or take the list elsewhere for a comparison quote. No pressure.
- Payment. $1k upfront to hold your place, balance on commencement. If the build takes me longer than estimated, I take the hit. I don't chase money.
- No weekly check-ins. One video call before we start is fine. After that, we work async. I'm a student, not on call.
- WordPress only. It's what I know and what I trust.
Ready?
If your website isn't earning its keep, let's talk. Request an assessment and I'll tell you straight — what's fixable, what's not, and whether I'm the right person for the job.
