A hero video is the video in the opening section of a page. It can show your products, introduce your service or give customers a feel for what you do before they start scrolling.

The work starts with the file itself. A video exported for social media or supplied in 4K can be much larger than the website needs. Simply uploading it and pressing play can leave customers waiting.

I check the footage, create a suitable web version and fit the layout around it. Portrait footage can stay portrait. Important details don’t need to disappear into a wide crop.

Bounce Haus Co supplied a full story video showing the Dream Palace Bundle being set up. It was portrait 4K footage at 60 frames per second, with no audio track and a file size of 354 MB.

I kept the complete 58-second story and its portrait framing, creating a 720 × 1280 web version at 30 frames per second. The finished file was 25.4 MB: approximately 93% smaller.

I also centred the video within its desktop space, removed the previous decorative frame, added a poster image and configured playback to pause when the video leaves view.

During the performance pass, I found and fixed a separate mobile navigation issue that was moving the page after it loaded. The final mobile PageSpeed Insights test on 29 October 2026 recorded:

• 98 performance
• 100 accessibility
• 100 SEO
• 0 cumulative layout shift

Those are the measured results for that page and test, including the navigation fix. Your result will depend on your website, hosting, footage and other content; a particular score isn’t guaranteed.
